🇫🇷 220 lessons · 🎧 A2 → B2 · 💸 a new dialogue every week, free
This is the map. French with Amélie is 220 dialogue lessons in real, spoken French — the French of cafés, métros and family dinners, not the French of textbooks. Below: find your level, pick a series, and start with the free lessons. No order to obey, no homework, no guilt.

Allez, on y va ? C’est parti ! »
🎧 The easiest way to understand real spoken French
Here’s the thing most courses get wrong: you don’t learn to understand French by reading it. You learn by hearing it, over and over, until the wall of sound turns into words. That’s what this whole publication is built to do.
Every lesson is a real conversation between real people, at real speed — with the full transcript underneath, my notes on the bits that would have lost you, and the audio at three speeds: native, 🐢 slow, and ⚡ à la parisienne for when you’re feeling brave.
And the moment you join, your podcast app fills with 220 French episodes 💜 — the private feed, yours on the commute, in the kitchen, on the walk. Most members tell me this is the thing that finally made it stick.
🧭 First: find your level
A two-minute placement test is coming to this page — it’ll tell you your level and hand you the series to start with. Until it lands, here’s the manual version, and honestly it works just as well:
Open one of these three and press play. Whichever you follow at about 70% is your level. Catching almost nothing? Drop a rung. Feels easy? Climb one.
You can’t get this wrong, nothing is locked.
Top to bottom: 🌱 A2+ → 🌿 B1 → 🌳 B2.
⚡ In a hurry? Five free lessons that show you the method
No level-finding, no commitment — just five of my favourites, open to everyone. A bakery run, a party question, some flirting, a supermarket, and an argument about robots. If you like these, you’ll like the other 215.
📚 Then: pick your series
The library isn’t a pile of 220 lessons — it’s eight courses. Each has its own page: what it covers, who it’s for, the full episode list, and the free ones to try. Start anywhere. Most people follow the ladder.
🌱 Beginner (A2+)
Where French stops being a school subject. Phase 1 is the newsletter’s early archive — 45 dialogues, almost all free to read. French 101 is the survival kit: the pharmacy, the restaurant, the job interview.
Coming to this level: Français du Monde 🌍 and C’est la Fête ! 🎊 — members get every new series the day it launches.
🌿 Intermediate (B1)
The level where you stop translating in your head. Longer conversations, real speed, real opinions — and two story-driven series: a trip through Paris, and the French you need to actually live in France.
Coming to this level: La Débrouille 🥐 — the art of getting by, the very French way.
🌳 Intermediate/Advanced (B2)
Where your French becomes YOUR French. Opinions, arguments, humour, slang — the two-in-the-morning conversations and the debates France is actually having.
Coming to this level: De Ville en Ville 🧭 and Cartes Postales 📮.
✨ Any time of year
Seasonal one-offs to open on the right day — Christmas markets, New Year resolutions, the Tour de France.
✅ How you’ll know you’re improving
“Am I actually getting better?” is the hardest question in language learning, because progress is invisible from the inside. So measuring it is built into the method:
👆 A full test for premium members every month, built from that month’s lessons.
👆 Every ten episodes of a series, a short check on exactly what that series taught you.
Nobody sees your score but you. The point isn’t marking — it’s the moment you realise you understood something in March that would have floored you in January.
🚀 Ready to start properly?
Finally understand real, spoken French — in months, not years. The free side of this newsletter is genuinely useful: a real dialogue every week, the first minute of audio, the writing prompt. Thousands of people learn on the free tier alone and I’m glad they do.
Membership is for when you want the whole thing — two full lessons a week at every audio speed, the annotated notes, the exercises, the 220-lesson library, the monthly test, and that private podcast feed 💜. It’s $24/month, or normally $240 for the year.
À très vite dans ta première leçon !
