Tom : Léa, quel est ton restaurant préféré ?
Léa : À Paris, je dirais que c'est "Le Petit Canard". C'est près de Montmartre, dans le coin. Et toi, Tom ?
Tom : Ah oui, "Le Petit Canard" ! Ça fait un bail ✪ que je n'y suis pas allé. Pour ma part, je dirais "L'Ambroisie" sur la Place des Vosges. C'est un peu cher, mais ça vaut le coup ✪.
Léa : J’ai entendu dire que c’est très fréquenté, qu’il était souvent noir de monde ✪. Tu dois réserver longtemps à l'avance, non ?
Tom : Oui, en effet ✪. C'est un endroit populaire, mais leur cuisine est incroyable. Si tu veux, je peux réserver une table pour nous deux la prochaine fois.
Léa : Oh oui, ça serait super ! Mais préviens-moi ✪ que je puisse ✪ organiser mon emploi du temps ✪.
Tom : D'accord, pas de problème. Il faudra que tu me rappelles d'aller au "Petit Canard" aussi. Ça fait tellement longtemps !

L: I've heard that it's very busy and often packed. You have to book well in advance, don't you?
T: Yes, I do. It's a popular place, but their food is incredible. If you like, I can book a table for the two of us next time.
L : Oh yes, that would be great! But let me know so I can organise my schedule.
T: OK, no problem. You'll have to remind me to go to Le Petit Canard too. It's been so long!
L: Works or me! We're in for a treat, I'm sure.

ça fait un bail ✨= (colq.) cela fait bien longtemps = It's been ages! Long time, no see! ”Comment vas-tu ? Ça fait un bail que je ne t'ai pas vu !” (How have you been? I haven't seen you for ages!)
ça vaut le coup✨ = être intéressant = to be worth it “Est-ce que ce film vaut le coup ?” (Is this movie worth it?), ça ne vaut pas la peine (de) = it’s not worth it
fréquenté = busy (frequented, popular). French actually doesn’t have an easy translation of the English ‘busy’ when talking about a place or road or airport etc. A good alternative might be = bondé.
But we do have plenty of expressions for something similar! (être) noir de monde✨ = be packed/heaving. plein à craquer = full to breaking point, heaving.
en effet✨ = effectivement, c'est exact = indeed, that’s right. This is your super-french word of the day today. Paired with a knowing nod and you’re 80% of the way to effortless Parisian chic (and that includes women and men.. bien évidemment). Use when you want to casually affirm everything the other person just said.
