Marine : Bien aussi, merci. Alors, dis-moi ✪, qu'est-ce que tu fais en premier quand tu te réveilles le matin ?
Gérard : J'étire mes jambes et je bois un grand verre d'eau pour me réveiller. Et toi ?
Marine : J'aime prendre mon temps le matin, souvent je vais sur mon balcon et je respire l'air frais pendant un moment. Ça me procure de l'énergie pour toute la journée.
Gérard : C'est une belle façon de commencer la journée. Moi, je suis plus du genre à sauter du lit et à commencer ma journée à fond la caisse ✪.
Marine : Ah, je vois. Et qu'est-ce que tu aimes faire pendant ton temps libre ?
Gérard : J'aime jouer au foot avec mes amis et aller à la découverte de nouveaux endroits dans la ville. Et toi ?
Marine : J'aime peindre et lire ✪. J'adore aussi apprendre de nouvelles choses, je suis toujours en train de ✪ chercher des cours intéressants à suivre.
Gérard : C'est génial, moi aussi. On devrait peut-être suivre un cours ensemble un jour.

dis-moi ✨ = raconte-moi, explique-moi = tell me. This little gem is like a conversational crowbar. Perfect for prying open stories and secrets!
‘à fond la caisse’ : ‘à toute vitesse’ ✨🧩 = full throttle / at full speed - très familier mais aussi très courant
aller à la découverte de : explorer, go in search of something new
j’aime peindre et lire : tout seul ‘lire’ signifie "lire des livres". On ne précise que lorsqu'il ne s'agit pas de livres (... lire le journal / lire des articles...)
en train de = occupé à, en cours de = in the middle of, doing. Used often. “Qu'est-ce que tu es en train de lire, là ?” (What are you in the middle of reading there?)
ce serait ✨ = it would be. The conditional tense is included early to show all my readers it’s nothing to be afraid of! Too often students live in fear of tenses for months or years. It’s for when you're dreaming big or making polite suggestions.
For instance, "Ce serait génial d'aller à Paris ensemble!" (It would be great to go to Paris together!). Voilà, you've just proposed a trip to Paris, and it didn't even sound pushy!
*✨ = especially ‘Frenchie’ words/phrases you should try and use more
*🧩 = ‘canned’ expressions or phrases that are best learned as a whole, like puzzle-pieces.

Gérard : Il faudrait que nous trouvions un cours qui nous intéresse tous les deux, peut-être quelque chose d'insolite ou de créatif. J'aimerais que cela nous donne l'occasion de sortir de notre routine habituelle et d'explorer de nouvelles passions.
Marine : Oui, il est essentiel que nous choisissions quelque chose d'enrichissant. J'espère qu'on trouvera un domaine qui nous passionne et qui nous permette de grandir ensemble, tout en s'amusant.
Translation
M: Hi Gérard, how are you?
G: Hi Marine, I'm good, and you?
M: Good too, thanks. So, tell me, what do you do first when you wake up in the morning?
G: I stretch my legs and drink a big glass of water to wake up. And you?
M: I like to take my time in the morning, often I go to my balcony and breathe in the fresh air for a while. It gives me energy for the whole day.
G: That's a beautiful way to start the day. I'm more the type to jump out of bed and start my day at full speed.
M: Ah, I see. And what do you like to do in your free time?
G: I like to play football with my friends and explore new places in the city. And you?

These dialogues are a very simple tool. Yet this allows them to be versatile and endlessly flexible to you and your learning style.
Here’s one way you could use the dialogue this week:
🥪 Listening sandwich - Listen to the recording x3 times, then read the dialogue and fill in your understanding, then listen again.
This is a great way for beginners to boost their oral comprehension in small helpful doses. Listening first exercises your brain, and listening again after studying allows you solidifying the connections. It’s also encouraging as you can see what you’ve learned !
